recent realities
warning: this post is extremely random and all over the place

Will had a wonderful visit with his Grandma Donna, Matt's mom, over the weekend.
He then got to visit with my mom on his one month birthday. My mom is working a contract position at the hospital just a few miles from our house, so she gets to stop in from time to time after work. It is amazing that this opportunity arose just hours after she left our house from her first visit with Will. It is nice to have her so close, especially since she lives 8 hours away.
What's better than playing out in the cold snow? Staying warm inside with your favorite bones to munch on. If you are Mason and Skye, that is!
So, our new gas logs were installed on Thanksgiving week. Things were going well aside from the awful odor that we thought was just taking longer than they advised us to burn off, and then we ran out of gas... exactly three weeks after the installation. Impossible that we drained an entire 100 gallon propane tank, right!?! Turns out that we had a leak on the interior of our home. I have been freaking out thinking about how harmful that has been or could have been. I wish I had called about the smell sooner, but we didn't think we had any reason to worry. I am glad we already had a carbon monoxide detector installed before the gas logs were installed, just in case. Everything has been fixed and we no longer have an odor!
Here I am 4 weeks and 4 days postpartum. At first, I was noticeably getting smaller every day, but it has tapered off and I think I have hit a plateau. Now it will be up to exercising to get my former figure back. I haven't started working out yet because I am waiting for my six week check up to make sure everything is healed properly and to make sure I don't strain anything. I can't wait to be able to do some crunches! I can honestly say that I will never be able to get back into my pre-pregnancy jeans. I went to try them on today and could barely squeeze them over my hip bones. I didn't gain any weight in my hips or thighs, but I guess my frame widened there - maybe!?!
Will enjoyed his time by the window watching the snow fall this morning. We got about three inches here. Not so great for commuters because it really stuck to the roads and they didn't get them cleared well before the evening rush hour. Luckily, Matt made it home safely! I am glad that I was home and not out in it - thank goodness for maternity leave.
Speaking of maternity leave - I am fortunate enough to be taking 10 full weeks, all of which will be paid due to my diligence in storing up my sick and vacation time over the past three years. I am very sad that it will be halfway over tomorrow. It will be so hard going back. I am dreading it already and I still haven't found a childcare provider. I think I am subconsciously avoiding the search because I am dreading having to drop him off and go to work every day. Guess I have a little more time to get used to the idea.
My new favorite treat is just basic Breyer's vanilla bean ice cream with frozen berries. Both can be found in the freezer section of any grocery store, and they are so yummy together. If you aren't interested for Winter, keep it in mind for warmer weather!
Our weekly photo shoot together!
If you made it all the way to the end, thanks for reading!!

Don't worry too much about your figure or weight loss. It took me a good 5 months to fit back into my pre-preg. jeans and I am just now down to my original weight. You will be amazed at how much your body changes in the next few months! For what it's worth, I think you look beautiful!
I think you look fabulous for only being 4 week post-baby! how fortunate that your mom gets to see Will so often - I'm sure it makes her SO happy! :)
