year in review
In January, we went for a walk at a local trail to get some fresh air. We also took a day trip
to Charlottesville, Virginia where Will got his first taste of his daddy's favorite restaurant,
Aberdeen Barn. We really spent most of our time hibernating indoors staying warm.
In February, Will turned 15 months old and celebrated with his first big boy hair cut. He
showed off a lot of super cute dance moves. We spent time bundling up indoors with some
snow falls, and even enjoyed some warmer days. We also ran a lot of errands and spent
time out and about on the weekends.
In March, the weather warmed up and we couldn't stay indoors. We spent our evenings after
work outside, and enjoyed time in the sun. We went furniture shopping with friends, watched
March Madness, and enjoyed the early blooms that popped up out of the ground.
In April, we celebrated a beautiful Easter, full of hunting eggs and enjoying candy. We also
spent time every day outside, where Will fell in love with leaf blowers, and the water hose.
In May, I went out of town on a business trip for two weeks to prepare for my promotion,
leaving Matt and Will to fend for themselves. I was so happy when they came to visit me for
about five days, which included spending Mother's Day at the beach. We just couldn't get
enough of the beach, so headed back on Memorial Day weekend for more sand, sun, and waves.
In June, we spent more days and evenings outdoors, and as the weather got warmer, we
brought out the water and the kiddie pool to stay cool.
In July, we kept it simple with 4th of July in the backyard. We spent several weekends at
King's Dominion enjoying Planet Snoopy. We also went to an agricultural fair, where Will
cooled off with ice cream.
In August, we spent time in the sun, at the lake, at the pool, enjoying the usual summer fun. I
also turned 30, starting another decade of life.
In September, we headed back home to North Carolina for a visit with my family. We spent
time with my parents, my brother, my Grammie, and aunts, uncles, and cousins. We enjoyed
a parade honoring my Grammie. We also toured the country side and visited a covered bridge
and a mountain river. When we returned home, we attended the State Fair and saw lots of
animals and ate fried foods.
In October, we met up with friends at Oktoberfest, went birthday shopping for the birthday
boy, enjoyed the cooler temperatures in the back yard, went to an apple orchard and enjoyed
a hayride, introduced Will to fresh cotton candy, and dressed up for trick-or-treating on Halloween.
In November, Will turned two.We celebrated with a cake and gift opening. We went for a
walk at George Mason University. Will took his first iPhone photo of himself. We ended the
month enjoying Thanksgiving and decorating for Christmas.
In December, we enjoyed all things Christmas, including a downtown Christmas Parade, a ride on
the Santa Train, family Christmas movie time, holiday baking, and lots of time wearing a Santa hat.
One thing I realized when going through my photos from 2012, my baby transformed quickly
into a boy. Almost like he skipped the toddler phase all together. Either way, we enjoyed a
wonderful year, and I am looking forward to what 2013 brings to our little family of three!!
