Our Saturday was blue sky(e)'s all around!

Could this boy get any happier??

Monday Marvels

Photobucket

While you are enjoying the beauty of the last my daylilies of the season, I will share my most recent blonde moment. [I am allowed a few here and there since all of my blonde has not disappeared... that's a story for another day!] I was chit chatting with my mom on the phone discussing our most recent yard accomplishments, and I complained to her that my daylilies disappear so fast. Just when a new one opens up, it is gone the next day when I walk by. My mom politely informed me that is why they are called "day"lilies. Oh! That had never occured to me. I just thought I had a bad variety. And that, my friends, is why it is important that we learn something new everyday!

My hydrangea is a true litmus test of our soil. On the opposite side of this shrub, there are blue and white clusters, and this one couldn't get any pinker. [If it does, rest assured I will photograph it then also!] I rather like the unexpected randomness of it!

Photobucket

We decided to go with white geraniums in our hanging baskets, and I think it was a great decision! We have a lot of color elsewhere in the yard, and these are just refreshing and dainty. Matt keeps them healthy for me by using crushed up banana peels. He is very proud of them!

Photobucket

The boys! [Excuse the glass... it is impossible to keep it clean with these beasts drooling on it all the time!]

Photobucket

And I leave you with the sunset from my front porch!

My Thoughts

Photobucket

I realized that after I completed refinishing the chair, I never photographed my office again, so I am now posting this photo with the room as it appears now. This room is a verrrrrry slow work in progress, but I kind of like it this way because I am taking the time to make my decisions, and I think it will make the outcome better. Time also allows time for suggestions... anyone? anyone???

Photobucket

His and hers on the grill! We went to our favorite grocery store, Wegman's, and both gravitated toward different meats, so Matt got his herbed rack of lamb, and I got the fresh garlic and herb sausage to try. The sausage was great with grilled vidalia onions and bell peppers.

Photobucket

Bread Cheese... yummmmmmmmmm! If you ever see this at your local grocery store, you must try it. It comes with the lovely toasted look, but we covered it in aluminum foil and tossed it on the grill for about a minute and it came out yummy and gooey in the middle. It tastes like a grilled cheese sandwich without the bread. It would be perfect with fruit or anything else. Definitely a new favorite around our house!

Photobucket

Tonight I made one of my mom's favorites, fire shrimp pasta. I will post a detailed recipe at a later time for you. It was yummy and had the perfect spiciness with olive oil infused with crushed red peppers.

Photobucket

Ahhhh, our new Haan. This snazzy little red thing is a cleaning master. It is desigend for sanitizing all flooring types, including our tile, hardwood floors, and carpeting. It is super wonderful because it has just the right amount of intrigue that my dear husband is obsessed with using it, leaving one less thing for me to do... that will always get two thumbs up from me!

Photobucket

Brotherly love. For the most part, Skye does his own thing and gets annoyed when Mason invades his personal space, but these two are really sweet when they start laying together. Once in a blue moon, I will catch one of them resting their head on the other. It just makes my heart melt! [It will be even better if I am ever able to catch it on camera, but they usually break it up at any sign of movement... as they say, patience is a virtue.]

Photobucket

My Mason... enough said!

Photobucket

Skye just knows he is georgeous!

Ma-Ma-Mason

::flashback::

I cannot believe he will be one in less than a month! This was when he was the size that his head is now. My Ma-Ma-Mason!

In With the Old

Photobucket

Ahh, my office! Above you can see the semi-before photo with no sofa. In the photo below, you can see my new sofa, courtesy of my Grammie who gifted it to me and went above and beyond and had it recovered and delivered to my door step 8 hours away. This sofa and I go way back... I grew up opening presents every Christmas morning on this sofa. I love the new look of it, and it is a great addition to my office because it is so long and comfy. This room will look better as more of the details come together and most importantly... we paint the walls a light, warm gray.

This chair, also a gift from my Grammie years ago, has now undergone it's 2nd recover since I have owned it. The most recent is pictured above, and the redo is pictured below. The wood was scuffed and worn from the moving I have done over the years through college and beyond, so we decided to paint it. For now it is a silver metallic. I may rethink my decision later and change it up, but for now we think it looks like an art piece. I recovered the cushions with the left over fabric from the upholsterer. When I make throw pillows for the sofa, I will make a bolster pillow for this chair.
