We ended our relaxing weekend by grilling out our favorites, steak and red creamer potatoes, and enjoying it with a fresh organic spring mix salad. The weather today was wonderful and there is a noticable coolness in the air. I am looking forward to the official start of Fall, but I will miss the warmth and excitement of Summer. The boys enjoyed the last few minutes of sun this evening and now we are winding down with a few television shows.

Whispers + Blue Skies

Skye secretively whispers what I can only guess must be a plot against the humans [us]. It really makes you think what goes through their heads!



Mason contemplates and sizes up the situation as Skye plays it cool.



Appearently, Mason was not on board and put his foot down. Skye was less than thrilled that he couldn't convince his younger, and much more inexperienced, brother to follow his lead.



Mason layed low.



Skye stared into space in disbelief.




They both relaxed a little, then moved on to teamwork of a different kind!



I was so relieved they worked out their differences so we could all enjoy the beautiful day!

Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary.

How does your garden grow?



Hydrangeas always make me think if my Grandma Mary. She was a gardener of many things, but I most vividly remember her posing for a photo in front of her blue hydrangea bushes in full bloom as they towered over her head in the background. Wonderful memories!

Caring + Sharing

Today was such a great Monday... if there is such a thing! I actually felt like I made progress at work and didn't feel bogged down as I was walking out the door. Then we stopped to try out a pasta place that has been in our neighborhood for a while. I enjoyed my pesto cavatappi with roasted tomatoes. I wrapped up the evening with a little backyard time with the boys and caught up on a few eposides of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Shine On

Yesterday was all clouds and rain. We spent the better part of the day out on the front porch watching the rain and enjoying the cooler weather. We are all so glad that the sun was shining bright and early this morning. Nothing beats a sunny summer day... especially on the weekend!

We were so happy to keep our grilling plans and spent our evening out on the deck while the boys played. Our grass is finally getting greener again thanks to the rain!





It doesn't get any better than this!!! This is the pear cider we found at Capital Ale House and it is perfection.

Our neighbors tree thinks it is Fall! I hope this isn't a sign that an early Fall is creeping up on us.

Ahh, freedom! I wish I had this kind of freedom and didn't have to dread work bright and early tommorrow. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Fresh Perspectives

This weekend we decided to let loose and give ourselves a break! That meant no house work/laundry/yard work/cooking/etc... we just ate out, kicked back and lounged around the house and the deck at will. It kind of felt like our lazy college days, which we do miss from time to time. I guess you could say we took a "stay"cation from our everyday lives!

[ I am kicking myself now because the house is a mess and I am missing certain items of clothing that are in the laundry hamper and are not fresh and ready for wearing, but who really cares... right!! ]

Mason just couldn't get enough!



My hydrangea bloomed two toned. This is the strangest bush... all of the other blooms from this hydrangea have been either white, blue or pink, but this is the first blue and pink combination. I really love that I never know what is going to develop next!



My salvia finally bloomed after a long vacation of no purple at all... it is nice that the color decided to join us again!



I hated Mad Housewife Chardonnay... to be completely honest, it tasted like bad, room temperature faucet water. I would become a mad housewife if I only had this to drink. I purchased it for the packaging, but I won't be fooled again!



We loved this! Ace Joker Dry Hard Cider. The packaging leaves a lot to be desired, but the taste of the apple + pear is great!



My hair grew. This photo was taken 7 days posthaircut. I can tell that I will be back for a trim a lot sooner than I previously thought. Hoping this haircut doesn't make me high maintenance because I have never been good at that!

Uh-oh, his beautiful face got a little wet. I wasn't able to capture him wiping his left front paw aross the side of his face about twenty times to dry it. He cannot stand to get wet and after this he stood about 10 feet away from the pool. Funny boy!
